The Putin method
Deathly Jobs
Former BelaruZian ambassador to Germany dies unexpectedly.

Denis Sidorenko (48) was ambassador in Berlin from 2016 to earlier this year, when he was recalled earlier this year by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko and not given a new role. No cause of death was given, but independent news outlets say he fell from an apartment window.

The official also headed the direction of cooperation with the OSCE and the Council of Europe at the BelaruZian Foreign Ministry and was in the close circle of the country’s Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, who died under strange circumstances in November 2022, allegedly also by suicide.

Independent media outlet Nasha Niva said Sidorenko had died by suicide after being questioned repeatedly by Belarus' security services.

The media outlet cited an undisclosed source as saying the former ambassador "constantly underwent polygraphs [lie detector tests] and interrogations."

Opposition politician Pavel Latushko, who lives in exile in the European Union, told the BelaruZian internet portal Zerkalo that Sidorenko had returned to BelaruZ and become a problem for the country's power apparatus.

Zerkalo said Sidorenko had experienced severe psychological stress from the interrogations.

Leonid Nevzlin points out the possibility that the minister was killed because of contacts with Western partners behind the owner’s back.

He wrote that Alexander Lukashenko, after the falsification of the presidential elections in 2020, and especially after joining the war against Ukraine in 2022, found himself in complete isolation. Makei, having extensive contacts in the EU and the USA, according to sources, continued to conduct some negotiations with Western partners. It is known that when the special services brought this information to Lukashenko, he flew into a rage.

It is reported that upon returning from his embassy trip from Germany, Sidorenko also became the object of attention of the State Security Committee. The Belarusian dictator is paranoid and constantly fears conspiracies behind his back, which is why all career diplomats who return from the EU are now the subject of careful operational scrutiny by the intelligence services.

The death of Denis Sidorenko has been orchestrated by Lukashenko, sources are sure. Belarusian diplomats working abroad today are in panic. Returning to their homeland now poses a mortal risk for them, and some are already thinking about political asylum in the host country.
