@TheOldGuy there were tonnes of negotiations with the USSR and the cold war would have been far more dangerous and expensive without it.

Of course the war in Ukraine makes things different right now, since the minimum reasonable ask is Russia leaving Ukraine entirely, something Putin won't give us..
