Stoltenberg: "The Most Urgent Task at the NATO Summit Will Be to Support Ukraine"

This was announced by the head of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg four days before the opening of the NATO summit.

"I expect that the heads of state and government will agree on a substantial package of measures for Ukraine. NATO will take on the coordination and delivery of the bulk of international security assistance, with a three-star general in command and several hundred people working at NATO headquarters in Germany and in logistics hubs in the eastern part of the Alliance," the statement said.

He also noted that the allies will take on new financial commitments to Ukraine.

The Secretary General also expects an increase in direct military support, the conclusion of new bilateral security agreements, and work to deepen military interoperability.

The summit, timed to coincide with NATO's 75th anniversary, will be held from July 9 to 11 in Washington.
