🇺🇸🇹🇷US demands Turkey to stop illegal transfer of technology to Russia, threatens consequences

"We need Turkey to stop the illegal transfer of US technology to Russia. We need progress on this matter from the Turkish government and industry, and quickly, or we will have no choice but to make those who circumvent our export controls face the consequences," said Assistant Secretary of Commerce Matthew Axelrod in a statement.

It is also recalled that Axelrod recently held talks with Turkish officials in Istanbul and Ankara on this issue.

According to the FT, due to the trade relations between Turkey and Russia, the US has previously added 18 Turkish companies to a special list: US firms need to obtain special licences to sell a number of categories of goods to these companies. The US administration has also repeatedly imposed sanctions on Turkish companies on charges of supporting the Russian defence industry.
