I would only ascribe a portion of TFG's ratings to senile dementia. If you've observed him over the course of his life, his warped & completely narcissistically-driven views on everything have caused him to lie, exaggerate & confabulate all along. He believes what he tells people, because no other "truths" make any sense to him. He totally thinks that if he says it, listeners will buy it. I think that is adding to his confusion, because his "charm" & charisma are fading.
