President Volodymyr Zelensky called the figures published by The Wall Street Journal about 80,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed in the war with Russia a lie
"80 thousand? That’s a lie. The real number is much lower than what was published. Much lower."
On September 17, The Wall Street Journal released an estimate suggesting that the combined military losses of both Russia and Ukraine since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022 could exceed one million.
According to the publication, "the number of Ukrainian soldiers killed is 80,000, with 400,000 wounded."
