The International Criminal Court (ICC) is investigating why Mongolia did not arrest Putin during his visit to the country, reports a Babel correspondent from The Hague.

The judges may conclude that Mongolia either complied with the ICC's cooperation requirements or failed to do so. If non-compliance is determined, the ICC will inform the Assembly of States Parties, which will attempt to persuade Mongolia to cooperate and fulfill its obligations.

The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Putin in March 2023. As a member of the ICC, Mongolia was obligated to detain him during his visit in September 2024, which did not occur.
