"A terrorist attack was carried out on the facilities of Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TAI) in Ankara. Unfortunately, we have casualties and wounded after the terrorist attack,"

An explosion and a shootout were reported. The workers of the enterprise were evacuated.

According to Turkish media, the criminals drove up to the entrance in a car, after which shooting began. Then an explosion was heard near the checkpoint.

There are reports of three dead and 14 injured.

It is currently not clear who are behind the attack.

Turkish Aerospace Industries: (background)

Turkish Aerospace Industries experience includes the licensed production of General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon jets, CASA/IPTN CN-235 light transport/maritime patrol/surveillance aircraft, SIAI-Marchetti SF.260 trainers, Cougar AS-532 search and rescue (SAR), combat search and rescue (CSAR) and utility helicopters as well as the design and development of Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Ukrainian companies like Motor Sich and Ivchenko-Progress are known for producing advanced engines for aircraft and helicopters. TAI has worked with Ukrainian firms to source engines for Turkish projects, including drones and helicopters.

For instance, Ukraine has provided engines for Turkey's Bayraktar Akıncı drones and is expected to supply engines for TAI's upcoming TF-X fighter jet and ATAK-II heavy attack helicopter projects.

TAI's work with Baykar (another leading Turkish defense company specializing in drones) has benefited from Ukraine’s supply of engines. Ukrainian-made engines power Turkey’s high-altitude long-endurance (HALE) drones like Bayraktar Akıncı.

This partnership helps both countries advance in drone technology, which has been strategically important, especially given the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
