Bloomberg: North Korea May Send 100,000 Troops to Fight Ukraine
North Korea could send up to 100,000 troops to support Russia in its war against Ukraine if cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang continues to deepen, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the assessments of some G20 countries.
As the agency's sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, note, such a scenario is not inevitable. However, if military assistance of such a scale is provided, it will most likely be implemented in stages, with rotation of units, and not by means of a one-time deployment of a large contingent.
The deployment of North Korean troops in the Kursk region indicates that the conflict is becoming global, sources say. The issue is planned to be discussed at the G20 summit in Brazil. In particular, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz intends to raise the topic of escalation at a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Scholz will try to convince Xi to use Beijing's influence on Moscow and Pyongyang to prevent further escalation.
