75-year-old Lyudmila Demchenko was killed on November 11, 2024, as a result of Russian artillery shelling of the city of Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region. She was walking down the street with a friend and was hit.

Lyudmila was a member of the folklore group "Mykytyn Rih". She worked in the cultural and sports complex of the Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant. She sang at various events in the city. Recently, she was a chorister in the church. She is remembered as active and cheerful.

"This is a great loss. Ms. Lyudmila was the soul of our community, who gave joy and inspiration with her voice. Such people leave a mark not only with their creativity, but also with their strength of spirit. Her voice, her presence and love of music became a part of everyone who had the honor of hearing her sing or being near her. Memories of her are like a song that will always sound, uniting everyone who knew her," said Oksana Podolska, director of the Nikopol Cultural and Leisure Center.

Lyudmila Demchenko is survived by a daughter and a grandson.
