Ukrainian teenager kidnapped from Kherson orphanage commits suicide in Russia

The investigation was reported by the publication "Important Stories." They found out that Oleksandr Yakushchenko did not leave a suicide note, and a disassembled phone with erased data was found next to the hanged body of the young man.

The boy's mother said that he had promised her to come to Ukraine before the New Year holidays. Other children with whom Oleksandr lived in the Kherson region confirmed that he wanted to return to Ukraine, but Russian guardians took his passport away.

His adoptive family does not know the reasons for his suicide. They say that he was simply living with them because he had nowhere else to go. The boy told his classmates in Russia that he was not needed by anyone.

The teenager lived in a family-type house in Tokarivka. The children were taken from the family because of their parents' alcoholism. During the occupation of part of the Kherson region, the head of the institution began to collaborate with the Russians. And after the lands were liberated from the invaders, she left for the Russian Federation, taking the children with her.
