Anyone else interested in for it’s, likely, more focused users? I never really got into ?

It seems easier to engage in topics on here, but maybe that’s just because I’m a Twitter novice

@Vasu I'm still trying to cultivate a list of the right accounts to follow for #science and #technology but yes I see a lot more engineers and developers in this space than anything. Very promising!

@ThaMunsta I’m trying to do the same with and research

My focuses are narrow but my interests are broad

@ThaMunsta @Vasu

Here is a good place to start for following accounts: fedi.directory/

Further if you haven't noticed, on qoto you can follow hashtags and make your own custom lists. Like I have lists for various fields of interest.

If that's not enough, you can also follow timelines of other instances.

And finally, you can easily make multiple accounts. I have more than 5 accounts across the fediverse.

@barefootstache @ThaMunsta

I appreciate the the advice. I’ll have to start following some hashtags, that seems like it might be the best way to start engaging.

How does one go about following another timeline, they aren’t all public correct?

@Vasu What annoys me about Twitter is that if you are interested in a certain topic and you search for a hashtag that is trending, trying to find out as many things as you can about it, that search will bring up a lot of escorts and flashers that add the trending hashtags to their post just to increase their reach.

@maricela I can see why that would be irritating for sure.

@Vasu mastadon seems really great now, especially with sudden influx of users. I have tried if few years ago and it was kind of empty. I do get your point though. Having servers split by topics helps. I don't care about US politics or economics news while I do appreciate science.
