@delunado Hello, welcome!
It can be hard to get used to Mastodon, so I really encourage you to explore a little bit more the #fediverse!
This network works really differently from Twitter or any social media. There is no algorithm whatsoever, so I recommend you to follow many interesting accounts in order to build your timeline o/
You can look for interesting people by searching for #hashtags, because you cannot search text in Mastodon. You can also check the "local timeline", which compiles all the toots of your instance (mastodon.gamedev.place). If you can deal with it, you can check the "Federated timeline", which compiles ALL the toots of all the networks (the whole network, actually).
There are many toots that explain this better that use the hashtag #twittermigration. There you can find many tips.
Do not hesitate (even, abuse!) following another people, as only toots and reposts will be seen in your timeline (nothing about "X liked" or "Y follows"...).
Hope it's not too much information :) Maybe you can work in an introduction and fill it with hashtags, so that people can find you! Check by example my own #introduction: https://qoto.org/@abde/109292877971637690
@delunado You feel more in control and this feels like a good old online forum where you have what you want!
The most amazing thing is that you can have 1k followers on birdsite but converge to 0 interactions with them, because your posts reach a lot less people!
Just arrived here I had many interesting conversations with many smart people that I didn't know before arriving, so open yourself :)
@abde Hi Abde! Wow, thank you very much for the info! Glad to see you here too :)
I'm getting used to Mastodon, it feels like a mix btw the old and new social networks. I like it!
Not having an algorithm pressure feels... good! ✊
