I guess criminalizing leaving out weapons instead of locking them in a safe would be a bit better, don't have to wait until someone gets shot.

The differences between germany and the us, relevant because we have less killing with guns in schools, would be to the best of my knowledge:
- easier to qualify to get a gun
- not as much registration (you do that on paper, right?)
- can leave accessible (that one seemed more relevant to school shootings specifically)
- maybe more suffering in schools?
Cultural differences may be relevant, but i would doubt those alone do much.
@admitsWrongIfProven i’m all for criminalizing unsafe storage of weapons, but often we don’t have visibility into people’s living rooms. when someone actually does get shot, i do hope we’ll criminalize what led to that as well.
