Ok #SoCal #Camping folks: at Anza-Borrego, do you recommend Tamarisk Grove or Borrego Palm Canyon for tent car camping? I prefer easy access to walks/hikes, and quiet & space over running water or fancy restrooms. I’ll be coming in from birding at the Salton Sea. (And I know there are other sites, but I need a guaranteed spot, and I also don’t want my little prius c to get stuck). ⛺️
And, I have actually been to palm canyon before. But it was the worst camping trip I’ve ever had, and that clouds my perception of the campground & park: Two big storms moved through back to back, and a new tent did not handle the high winds well at all. And, I came down with the flu, *bad*. So I spent a night with a high fever trying to keep my tent from blowing away, before I basically had to evacuate to a hotel in Palm Springs for a few days until I was well enough to ~safely drive home. 😭
