I'm very disconnected from the Persian side of my family, and I should work to fix that. Tonight, on the winter solstice, is Yaldā Night when Persians usually gather with friends or families to stay up late with food, drink, and poetry readings. Particularly poetry by Hafiz, because of course. As for the food, red fruits like pomegranates are especially important, because red is the colour of dawn and sunrise.

It's also traditional to pick a verse from Hafiz's Dīvān to tell your fortune for the year. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy in my home, because I am very bad at being Persian.

I'm honestly pretty bad at being Thai too, apart from the cooking. At least I'm fairly good at being Chinese though, so I have that.

Oh, I'm also ok at being Danish. Mostly because I just like being comfortable at home when the weather's grim outside. But that's kind of an important part of it.

tl;dr my family is big and messy and extremely disconnected!
