Inspired by an exchange between @StillIRise1963 and @ehren, this is a call for (short) stories about how you have coped with loved ones lost to #Trumpism #MAGA and #fascism. When your loved ones fell for #disinformation and lies, what did you do? Were you able to stay connected? Were you able to understand and address the underlying issues? Success stories of bringing people back from their alternate reality are especially welcome.

sad but hopeful story here. I am connected and my parents try to keep connected with me but it's incredibly taxing. I have to switch to Christian lingo to discuss any hard viewpoints with them i.e. climate change is real, brought on by humans not being good and faithful stewards; we must wear masks to love our immunocompromised neighbors; stuff like that. and thus far they take in the info and don't push. before it would lead to screaming fights. it's hard because my sister and I are only two voices against walls of disinformation pushing at them from all sides
the hopeful part is my sister might be starting to agree that my parents are lost causes. and if we can't all be one big happy family maybe her and I can be one little happy family

My family split in half along party lines. If I knew then what I know now I might have been able to forestall it. It is possible to change minds, but neither side is very good at it. But our advantage is that can learn knew ways to do things, like Deep Canvassing, Street Epistemology, and Attitude Inoculation. It may be too late for your parents, but maybe you can help cousins or neices to not go down the same path.
