Finally did the first mowing of the season today.

We have an entirely manual push lawnmower, no gas or electrical, it is nice because it does not make any noise and you don't have to pay anything to use it.

It is a simple system of chop and drop that allows the clippings to be dropped where it is mowed.

The first grass clippings are always nice to use in a hot compost pile. I like to mix, fall leaves and wood chips, grass clippings, and worm compost.

You sure don't eat the grass but you can compost it to make your own fertilizer.

@compost I have a push mower too, and it was great for my small yard. But I'm slowly replacing the grass with native ground-covers, and that made it a little more difficult to use, so I got a Ryobi electric mower.
Now if only they could make an electric snow-blower with enough power...
