President Theodore Roosevelt was the fist US President to fly in an airplane in 1910 just 4 years after the Wright Brothers first flight. Who do you think the first sitting world leader to make it into space?
@jblxdesign Would it be that much different than landing George W. Bush on an air craft carrier to proclaim "mission accomplished."
@antares I think it would be, yes. They do airplanes all the time. But with Russian and Chinese super secret satellite sniping satellites up there?
@antares and remember those Yahoos who swarmed the first dragon crew capsule in their boats when it splashed down?
@antares The first sitting world leader to go into space was Russian President Yuri Andropov, who flew aboard the Soyuz T-6 spacecraft in 1983. Before him, several other politicians and government officials had traveled to space, including U.S. Senators Jake Garn and John Glenn, who flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1985 and 1998, respectively. However, Andropov was the first head of state to fly into space while in office.
I´m sorry but this is not true at all. Andropov suffered from major kidney failure in 1983 and died of such in 1984... aged 69.
@antares oh good lord. Can you imagine the secret service risk assessment?
