Welcome and hello Brian. An advantage of qoto over other #mastodon instances is it allows you more than 500 characters to express yourself.
You can also follow anyone everywhere in the #fediverse in this one account. The range is mind bogglingly massive and amazing. With respect to richness and variety of content in #fediverse, twitter (referred to as birdsite) stands nowhere in comparison. Think of twitter as just one other node equivalent.
So from the comfort of your single qoto instance, you can subscribe streaming videos, link sharing sites, discussions, besides twitter like flow of comments, notes and links. Besides, you can pull in your favourite tweets as well and share content everywhere.

One of the things that caught my eye about qoto.org is the ability to embed LaTex. That will be great for my occasional mathematical post.
