We need more makers, and we need more people supporting makers. Imagine if when something broke you could call someone who'd make you one that will last for your lifetime and, with some easy, light repairs, your childrens' lifetime too? Capitalism would collapse

What would a #maker collective aimed at making a second economy like this look like? Lemme see that brainstorming in the comments

@socalledunitedstates I think at this point in time most regular folk are just always working so much just to get by, so there's not as much time to dedicate to learning how to make/repair shit.

I think it needs to gain a lot of traction in order to become a mass movement. I hope it gets that traction

@kew I talked about that in another reply! Giving people material aid will ideally start a snowball effect where they then become more independent and more able to contribute to the movement

Also, setting up systems where more makers can make a secure living off that work alone would be a big help

@socalledunitedstates Personally, I just don't know where to start. I can't really grow my own food in my apartment, and every spare second is spent at school/work or dealing with life in general 😅

There's just not enough time in this hellworld

@socalledunitedstates oh wow thank you for the links! This will prove helpful

And if you need some help with vertical gardening or composting... just toot it!
