@e yeah, no. You can send direct messages, by quoting the user and clicking on that globe icon in the composer, changing it to an envelope. That will only show it to the recipient.

But is not called private, rather Direct, because for example admins can see it, and I'm not sure what the security is around it. It is usually advised not to rely on the "private" side of it.
