@copyleftie@freeradical.zone I use another alias to download with youtube-dl and then play with vlc... but I'll check out, maybe I can do it in a more elegant way using just vlc
@arteteco @copyleftie I wrote a simple shell script that uses VLC to convert yt vidoes to mp3 to essentially listen to them as a podcast.

what's the advantage over using youtube-dl -x?

@arteteco @copyleftie I don't know... I didn't know about youtube-dl until this thread popped up in my feed. :-) I've been using my script for a few years now, which will also add various mp3 metadata from some other utilities.
@js290 Uh, automatically adding metadata looks cool. Do you have a link to the script? I mostly use ogg, if it works anyway maybe I can play with it =)
