I've never done this before, but I set up a spare laptop to donate computing power to research. I used (foldingathome.org)

Does anyone do this and have some insights and opinion on the best way to do it?
I've seen also BOINC is good and let you choose what to donate to, but I've no time atm to get deeper into it.

Anyway, in case you are not a tech, it was dead easy and it took me literally 5 minutes while drinking an orange juice.

@arteteco you might just be wasting money/electricity? Compared to spinning up something more efficient in the cloud

@tomosaigon idk how to answer your question, can you?
Doesn't look like a waste to as its doing its job, crunching through the work.
Can I do it in a more efficient way? I always assume that yes, I could, but I don't have any cloud power to use... if you have ideas let me know

@arteteco how old is the hardware? Can you measure the work that's being done? Does it have a gpu?
