covid-19 science, overwhelmed

Reading abt rats nest of data that epidemiologists are trying to untangle

-Rates of asymptomatic /hospitalized/mortality
-Ro uncertainty
-Uncertainty of complicating factors
-Treatment efficacy when policymakers are effectively prescribing hydroxychloroquine
-People dying at home untested
-Testing avail/accuracy
-Antibody testing merits/accur.
-Making sure vaccines safe when developed at >2x the rate ever attempted

Makes me glad I study clams. nice and simple

@dantheclamman I envy them a bit... I mean, they have such a nice puzzle to solve, as I understand they could be in a moment of revisiting a lot of what we knew about epidemiology, virology, and even medical evidence.

Meanwhile yeah, I'm at home making ecological models for fungi, not a lot of pressure on us=D

@arteteco hopefully there will be big advances in antiviral treatment. right now it seems like viruses really have the upper hand
