Trying to setup my #telescope with new-to-me #astrophotography camera. Since I use what’s called an #equatorial mount, I need to align it properly with the sky’s North Pole in order to do long exposures without drifting. That, and a smaller camera and scope called together an #autoguiding system, allow me to keep an object centered in the field of view for long periods of time.
@astromecanik I just use an adapter to strap my iPhone 6 to the lens. :)
Then again, I mostly just photograph the Moon and planets.
@benjaminhollon and that’s a great picture!
@astromecanik Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Some basic editing in GIMP really helped to bring out the detail. Here's the original.
@benjaminhollon yup, there was some definite improvement over the original. Excellent
@benjaminhollon here’s my lunar section on my blog, in case you get bored and want to see them: https://www.captandoelcosmos.com/g-luna/
@astromecanik Very impressive! I'll have to look into getting some better equipment when I move to the US in a month and a half.
Does your blog have RSS? I'd like to follow it.
@benjaminhollon maybe this works?
@astromecanik That's it, thanks!
You might consider putting a link to that somewhere on the site, since, in my experience, many people over here on Mastodon primarily follow blogs through RSS.
