What #book or #books are you #reading this #weekend? #bookstodon @bookstodon
@thisfulfillinglife @bookstodon Thank you for sharing.
@bibliolater "Slow Horses" by Mick Herron. I enjoyed the Apple TV adaptation, but somehow cannot really get into the book.
@krzysztofdrozdowski Thank you for sharing. I believe it is part of a series, maybe the next installment might meet with your approval.
@bibliolater There are several books already (it's called the Slough House series), Apple adapted the next two, Dead Lions and Real Tigers, if I'm not wrong. I enjoyed the Apple's series, it's the books (well, the first one) I have a problem with, and I believe it's because of the Polish translation, there's something in it that makes the book not tick for me.
@krzysztofdrozdowski Translating works can be a tricky task. The translator has to stay faithful to the original text whilst at the same time being understood in the other language.
@bibliolater @bookstodon I’m trying to finished Shirley Hazzard’s ‘The Great Fire’, and while I can appreciate the artistry and craft, even with about fifty pages to go I’m finding it a bit like walking through treacle. Need to get it done and move right along.
@mjjmori @bookstodon Thank you for replying. I know the feeling. Sometimes as enjoyable as reading can be if the pace is slow it can really feel like you are trying to pass through quick setting concrete or trickle.
@bibliolater @bookstodon I just finished How We Show Up by Mia Birdsong 🤗
