@garyhall One of the writers was Sir Antony Jay a "commentator of trenchant rightwing views on Westminster and Whitehall politics" whilst the other was Jonathan Lynn a "left-leaning actor".

@bibliolater As I recall, what Thatcher liked about Yes Minister was that it's a programme about how hard it is for government ministers to enact policy and bring about much needed change in the face of the Civil Service. It's an atttude toward 'the blob', as it subsquently came to be known, shared in their different ways by Boris Johnson, Dominic Cummings, Liz Truss, Michael Gove...
