The Gauls and Romans were technologically equal. the Romans had organization and discipline. though the Roman soldiers were drawn from all over the Empire, they were all taught Latin and all drilled the same way. The Gauls were a federation of different cultures united only in their opposition to Roman conquest, owing allegiance to their chief over anything else and speaking individual dialects that verged on mutually incomprehensible.2/2
