boomers are so goddamn emotionally challenged, it's not even funny. latest take i heard from relatives is that grown ups shouldn't discuss their misunderstandings in presence of kids because it would trouble the kids too much!

HOW THE FUCK SHOULD KIDS LEARN THAT IT'S OK TO DISCUSS PROBLEMS AND THAT IT'S NORMAL TO HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS AND THAT CONFLICTS CAN BE SOLVED BY TALKING ABOUT THEM, FINDING A SOLUTION EVERYONE CAN LIVE WITH.

@bonifartius My late dad and late grandad had this mentality. We spent more time arguing against each other and fighting than developing an emotionally-aware relationship. So many wasted opportunities.

@thatbrickster it's really sad, yes. my dad used to just give up in such conflicts. my mom was doing the only-bare-minimum-care while not talking anymore drama. caring jack shit for how her child feels because the facade to other people was the most important thing.
