Does anyone else look at shows like The Sandman and the American Horror Story series and see their choices as explicitly hostile towards the howling internet shitgibbons?

These shows keep getting gayer and blacker and transer and fatter and womanier and it seems like it's driven entirely by spite and I am totally here for all of it but I can't get past the little tickle in my brain that someone is trying to pick a fight with this stuff.

I'm not even saying it isn't a fight worth having, but for all the feelings and sensations we watch horror for, a persistent sense of "that moment when the vibe goes bad at a rowdy bar" isn't one I was looking for or expecting.
