@jalcine @braindouche I'm happy to be wrong & reframe my analysis around any theory that makes more sense of the senseless waste I've observed. Maybe @braindouche is on the right track! Will think more on this.

Appreciate thoughtful engagement.

For a long time I thought react was a fad of the same kind as Ruby on Rails was, kinda goofy and monomaniacal but ultimately fine. I changed my mind a few years ago, I think it's much more akin to cryptocurrency, reinventing a working system badly to solve problems we don't actually have.
@jalcine

@braindouche @jalcine In fairness, there are many very real, very pressing problems that require solutions *once* you adopt React. So if you need full employment for Web Packers and Should Updaters, it's the tools for you and your team!

@braindouche @jalcine Slow, bloated, and out of touch. And when confronted unflinchingly with that analysis, admirably willing to make changes and bring their community along to a better status quo.

There's a reason I reserve firebreathing for the unrepentant; I've tried everything else.

@braindouche @jalcine The Angular team was...lets say...not a fan of mine...inside Google. They had a Director that I'm pretty sure wanted me launched into a Venusian orbit...but the engineers read the traces and heard what I was saying and went back to the drawing board for mobile-appropriate designs. And then they told their community about how those wins would help them.

The community bit is what I thank them for the most (even though they were quite late).

@braindouche @jalcine Anyway, when you see me have a go at FB, put this in the comparison. How badly did San Mateo have to fuck up *versus Angular* to earn my ire?

And remember, I sing for no master and dance for no prince. They have all tried variants of "...but your perf review" and I stand unbowed.

Fuck their back-channel shit; show me the user wins.

Good point. You did not get to see how the react sausage was made.
