@PINE64
These updates where once driver of a prosperous community. Now they only come when new poducts are announced?

I think #pine64 should focus more on supporting development for their existing line-up than developing new niche devices. Or they will face the same fate as the many existing unsuccessful products!

What has become of the DevZone? It could really help overcome hampers in dev. which would have great impact on maturity, comunity and trust!
+In the end sales and thus finance itself

@PINE64
Its sad, but i have the impression that #pine64 does't care about what their products become.

@homo_particeps Hello, a group of us came together to make this update. We have all been busy the past year, some of the original writers have left. So it has been very difficult for us to get these out. Especially for one or two people :(

We are working towards more frequent updates as discussed with our community at FOSDEM 2024 this year.

Support of development highly depends on our community, less development may mean a less successful product. Sometimes we only make a batch to see how much interest it will gain from the community.

@carbonatedcaffeine
Haven't there allways been interest inverstigations before anything was produced?
Insufficient interest might come from steep development hurdles. Shouldent pine64 do everything to support here?

I know that the philosophy was allways to keep costs down by not investing in software. But if they would have put the resources from some of their new products in software and paid comunity work (eg posts) instead, i think it would be better for all.

@homo_particeps Pine Store provides free hardware to well-known and respected developers in our community who are interested in working on a new product. So there is that.

Unfortunately, it is not our decision as the community are separate from the Pine Store (Pine64 ≠ Pine Store). Though through the discussions at FOSDEM, Pine Store has said more support will be coming for the community.

So things ARE getting better!
