... Meanwhile Tumblr is joining ActivityPub.
I wonder if that's just a desperate attempt to become relevant again?
Or maybe importing content from the fediverse to display ad's alongside it?
I tend to give #tumblr more of a pass, but perhaps just for nostalgia reasons; I think of them as disorganized weirdos more than gross manipulators. Their approach to monetization and so on seems to have been to basically do parody implementations, which I like :P

Even though they're owned by Yahoo now?
@BrionS @ceoln @humbird0 @mastodonusercount
Yahoo haven't owned it since they sold it in 2019 to Automattic, the guys who run Wordpress too.
@pre @ceoln @humbird0 @mastodonusercount oh, my mistake. Thank you for the correction.

I did attempt to search for Post, not knowing exactly what it was called. First tried post.com which is not correct. Then a search for 'post app' turned up so SO many unrelated results. Finally searched Mastodon for #postNews and found someone who actually linked to post.news.
Terrible experience just trying to find it, then I'm adjusted with their front page (white + light blue + small text doesn't work for me).
That's a big #nope from me.

That's a damn good point:
""Post" is a terrible completely un-googleable name. Can you imaging searching for "social media, post" and getting anything sane?"
I've always favoured the use of the word post but you've thrown me a spanner.
@stackerlee @ceoln @mastodonusercount
The word "post" to refer to an individual note is fine.
It's when you name your website after it's tricky.
@ceoln @mastodonusercount
I new there was another one I forgot.
I like that #postnews is quite similar to instances with names like #poast on Fedi which are pretty much all toxic and terrible shitposting instances.

They are owned by billionaries who intend to sell your eyeballs, and maybe share that with their top-posters as far as I can tell.
They are unlikely to federate, and seem to desire to lock you in so they can farm you like all the other people-farmers on the internet.
