Reminder: Surveillance advertising wastes significant electricity (something we should be conserving for actually worthwhile persuits):

* Downloading poorly written JS
* Running said JS
* Uploading profiling data
* Processing said data aggregated via unknown yet politically influential intermediaries
* Choosing which ads to show you
* Increasingly downloading said ads, wasting your time shoving them in your face

All in the name of getting you to buy more stuff!

@dpwiz @alcinnz What's so bad about HTTP that it required a completely new protocol for requesting the pages?

@amiloradovsky @dpwiz Let me predict the answer: Cookies. Also HTML/CSS/JS.

And Gemini docs complain about HTTP's complexity, which I'd call misinformation. Since HTTP itself has numerous client & server implementations for each programming language under the sun, and can be stripped down to little more than a Gemini request without breaking existing services.

@dpwiz @amiloradovsky Yes, I hate the surface web too...!

Now excuse me as I see what excellent new webpages my feedreader found for me.
