Does anyone who doesn't play VR chat remember VR at all?

@dpwiz@qoto.org If you post a graph you also need to post the data used in that graph and the source. What headsets are those? Does it include SONY headsets? Mobile phone headsets? Obviously including those it's going to be a lot, a lot of people bought SONY VR and phone VR as a novelty, just to put them in a drawer and never take them out again.

This by itself tells me nothing.

@enigmatico Does the headset matter? If you can your stick your face in it, it's VR, no?

I doubt the "cardboards" are in there. That fad should have been peaked and then passed a few years ago by now.

@dpwiz@qoto.org They do. I told you, people buys cheap stuff and then leave it abandoned in their drawer. All the info is required, I dont even know if this could have been made up. One does not just slam a random graph and call it a day.

@enigmatico Okay, I've just checked quests specifically and, yeah, the numbers up there are BS. The quests have only a few million sales in 2023 while having up to half the market.

IDK.. still looks far from being forgotten.

@dpwiz@qoto.org The good ones are very expensive and require a big room and a decent computer setup, which is not something everyone has at their home, when the majority of the computer market is dominated by laptops and small computers precisely because people lacks the space. I am aware there is still a significant amount of people using them to play VR Chat, but the truth is there isn't much to do with them aside of that. Probably porn.

And let's not forget how uncomfortable they are for long sessions.

If I have to guess, most of the headsets being sold are cheap headsets like the ones for Playstation or those that are sold for phones, but these don't even get close to the quality of the more expensive ones, and there really isn't much to do with them. People buys these as a novelty and then forget about them.

The numbers in that chart are really sus and that's why I required more data, because it's really strange that with all these issues and the lack of new VR content people is actually buying more. I was asking what type of headsets these are because I highly doubted they were buying the expensive ones. But even then, it just looks weird.

@enigmatico > there isn't much to do with them aside of that

All of my dudes are "playing" gamified squats on Quests. Can't long session *that* unless you're one athletic MFer, but then you're usually fine with some discomfort anyway 😅
