It will never stop being funny to me that the whole "you can't trust Wikipedia because anyone can edit it" scare happened and now Wikipedia is the only trustworthy website because it turns out profit motive is the reason things turn to shit.

Foley square is packed to the gills. Proud of my city.

I can’t be the only one thinking about what the Venezuela raid means for Taiwan, right?

Movie piracy is bad. That's why I want to know the best sites to block so I live free of sin.

I used to block dopebox.to, but since it doesn't work the way I want, I no longer need to block it.

What other good sites are there that I should block or whatever?

I declare today national coffee cart guy appreciation day cause they all took the day off and you never appreciate what you have til it’s gone. 😔

Firefox’s AI nonsense makes me a sad panda. I want to believe there’s time for a cranial/rectal divorce, but the fact I need to hope for that at all is just tragic. The writing has been on the wall, I know. I just wish I didn’t have to read it.

Heading to the bar tonight to hopefully celebrate some good news.

Is it weird that when I read all of the shit-awful Charlie Kirk quotes floating around, I hear them in Ben Shapiro’s shit-awful voice?

#Bluesky making it their top priority to ensure a dead fascist is treated like a saint IMO validates pretty much every concern folks here have raised about that platform in the past. Happy I stuck around even when it was clear fedi wasn't going to win any popularity contests.

Got excited when I thought this old Chinese lady was selling DVDs in the ER waiting room. Disappointed beyond words to learn she wanted to talk about Jesus.

what does it say that when i hear that "Fooble is forked from Barble" these days, my first question is "which one's the nazi one"

There was a whole era where Twitter liberals treated open-source social media as some kind of Nazi factory.

The logic went: if you make a platform anyone can run, Nazis will run it too. Therefore, by extension, you must be helping Nazis.

But then what actually happened? The “responsible” platform, the one the gatekeepers defended, got bought by a fascist-saluting clown who immediately started funnelling money into Trump’s campaign—helping him back into the White House.

So where are those noble guardians now? Where’s the vaunted moderation aristocracy that was supposed to keep us safe? Gone. Silent. Utterly absent now that the new overlord has arrived.

That’s the lesson: power isn’t something handed down by gatekeepers. It isn’t something you beg for in moderation queues. Power is taken.

And the way to take it back is simple: build your own sites. Federate them. Don’t leave your digital existence in the hands of self-appointed wardens.

If I had to choose, I would also play Super Mario Brothers instead of race war.

8 year old me would never forgive present day me’s reaction to Hulk Hogan being dead. What can I say? We’re both disappointed, kid.

Nothing more useless after the NYC mayoral primary than think pieces about and from centrists democrats.

"Sure, Zohran Mamdani mobilized and turned out lots of ostensibly Democratic voters. But what will diet Republican and independent voters think? And to whom will big donors throw their money to try and coalesce around messaging that resonates with literally no one??" - questions dreamed up by the utterly deranged

Kid just tried to remember the name of a show and out popped “Ran and Stampy”. Honestly? Not bad.
