FediFriends! Let's start a discussion to
help new people switching to the (Windows alternative) Linux Operating System :tux:

What is your favorite Linux distribution
(a type of Linux OS) to recommend to complete non-tech beginners?

Can you share an easy-to-follow guide to help them get started?

NOTE: Keep your replies free from jargon, judgement, and accessible to beginners please 💚

@Em0nM4stodon Yes, please. I’ve had apple computers for 20 years now & will need to be getting a non apple computer, likely a laptop, in the near future. I refuse to use windows. I know nothing about Linux, but have always been a fan. I was going to see if they have a Linux For Dummies book at the library. 😬

@DEDGirl @Em0nM4stodon Ubuntu.

It's one of the most popular and robust. You'll easily find any help you need. Almost certainly runs on any hardware you have. Can be used "live" by booting from USB so easy to try out.

Payed support, like AppleCare, available from them, and @frameworkcomputer will do you supported hardware.
