Swiss classic. The Swiss do manage to keep some very old trains in a good state…

As you might gather I’m having a really good time these days in Switzerland. After the sometimes tough trip in South East Europe, this is quite the contrast 🙂

So let’s do some #CrossBorderRail 🙂

In the next hour
Rafz 🇨🇭- Lottstetten 🇩🇪
Jestetten 🇩🇪 - Neuhausen Rheinfall 🇨🇭
Thayngen 🇨🇭- Bietingen 🇩🇪

Speeds are leisurely here

The alignment is old, the track winding

Lottstetten 🇩🇪 - Rafz 🇨🇭

You can see a road border beside the track 🙂

Jestetten 🇩🇪 - Neuhausen Rheinfall 🇨🇭

I couldn’t tell where the border was. So here’s the Rheinfall 🙂

In conversations over a beer last night there was an argument about whether this is a border

OpenRailwayMap implies not. Swiss maps do! 🙂

If it is, I crossed it!

And if I count what can now be called Hugisauweg Corner 🇩🇪 🇨🇭 that’s 5 borders today already. 2 more to go 🙂

With the 2 yesterday I’m at 254 borders now

Waldshut is weird. All orderly, but forgotten. Platforms not equipped for level boarding. No sign of the long planned electrification works towards Basel and Singen. Only the (temporarily closed) line from Koblenz 🇨🇭 has an overhead wire.

@falken oh these are great. French built. Known as baleines (blue whales) in France. They’re the very best small railcars. Super comfy!
