MNT Reform Next prototype status update! trackpad works now incl buttons (cherry mx ulp). this is a really nice combo for drag&drop with any mouse button without needing a lot of multi finger gestures. keep in mind the case and trackpad button caps are 3d printed here, everything is still rough and unpolished. but it's coming together for real!

a bit of trackpad action (buttons are flipped left to right atm)

@mntmn I might have missed something. Track ball will still be an option?

@falken no trackball on the reform next. only in classic

@mntmn interesting. Wasn't that a good unique selling point, or difficult to keep as a module, or ... ?

@falken trackballs are huge! it doesn't fit in the next, which has other goals (being slimmer, because most people are deterred by overly thick laptops)

@mntmn @falken Not deterred by the thickness, but rather the roughness of the trackball (from the reviews). Been wanting a reform ever since the crowd source campaign, still cant afford one 😞

Love seeing further development of this awesome project. When you eventually release it with native/pre-installed SculptOS I'll probably not be able to resist. I'm currently running SculptOS off internal storage on my TP-X230. But Genode and MNT is a match made in heaven!
