A heads up to #India folks, this is not bird app, this is open source so each of the different instances you are in, there is someone else working for you to get this experience. I see lot of you asking for features and moderators, it’s pretty entitled I feel, they are funded by donation so pls try to donate to different instances you are in: for the number of folks we have brought in even if each of us pay 100 rupees, it will make huge difference . I will get information where we can donate
Folks who came in for blue ticks in mstdn server here are the details to donate, can each one pay minimum 100 and maximum up to you can afford? Let’s be kind to folks who helps us, now am asking for boosts from all of you and 100 ₹

Hey @freemo , is there any way people from #QOTO instance can donate/ become a patreon??
We very much appreciate the efforts and time you spent to create this instance.
until now our donations have come from private donors (people who want to see a distributed collaborative STEM space). So I never set up any public mechanism for donations. With that said I have occasionally recieved donations through cryptocurrency for that purpose.
I can set up a librepay if there is interest.
I donated about 10,000$ of my own money to the fund when I first founded the servers as well.
@freemo @Karthikdeva @Deepsealioness @citrustwee wow, $10000 ? what are you guys running on?
Depends on the service. Our git, funkwhale, peertube, and next cloud all run on a customized AWS infrastructure based off of ECS. We also host the data portion and some backups of the mastodon instance on AWS for redundancy.
The 10K donation i made alone would cover server costs for several years, but since my initial donation we have almost dobled our donation fund from other donors.
Yea core instance is mastohost ithe the data itseldf in AWS redundantly (also backed up to wasabi).
Our AWS stuff is ECS based and thus load balanced and elastic. Mastohost though is single instance dedicated hardware. So unless and until we containerize our mastodon code that part will remain on mastohost with everything else on aws.
