@georgia Im sure some batterers certainly claim to be the victim no doubt. But im not sure that excuses the pattern of assuming that to be the case for a male victim but not a female victim. I'd image that female batterers are likely going to claim to be the victim falsly just as often as a male batterer would be.

Depends on the shelter. But yeas thats the point, if people are focusing on creating support for male victims, given the very real need, that is the part of the underlying sexism at play. Feminism often claims it is about addressing male inequality (like their right to be stay at home dads) as much as female. Yet their pattern of behavior of addressing this issue has been unbalanced. Remember feminism isnt supposed to mean "pro-women" it is supposed to mean "anti-sexism"
