@Wetrix I dont play any warhammer yet. So far I've only been painting these warhammer kits i bought 2 days ago. Will give the game a try soon though but not 40k

@Wetrix I usually care only about game mechanics with many games. Lore is for books for me. D&D or other adventure/exploration games where my players level up is an exception there. With warhammer im likely more to play it like chess

@cowanon All tabletop RPG is shit other than AD&D 2nd edition, this is my religion and if you disagree with me it is hate speech!

From what little I hear, 2e magic-users weren't ultra-dominant over the game because there was a lot more hindrances to magic-use like potential system shock, and then 3e took all that away and casters of all kinds make fighters, rogues, etc. into NPC-tier classes. @freemo

@cowanon It dependws a lot on the DM. there are VERY powerful spells but they required objects to cast. So the DM could define how common such spells were.

I never got much a chance to play anything more than the first level of 3e but I spent at least 100 hours on D&D forums reading up on all the delicious "broken" and "overpowered" builds one could put together. I don't know where I'm going with this but finally seeing someone else online talking about tabletop rpgs brought back all dis nostalgia. @freemo

@cowanon keep in mind in 2nd ed there was "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons" then jus t"Dungeons and Dragons" .. so it was sorta like seperate games.

They got rid of that with 3rd Ed which is why i dont like it.

That's something I didn't know, cool! What made the latter advanced? Reworked classes, more rules, stronger monsters..? @freemo

@cowanon More rules, and more expansions. For example each attack would take many more steps and dice rolls just to get a hit. The game would proceed slower and require more skill and understanding.

Sounds like fights needed to be more orchestrated than just go in and smash orc for his muffin. @freemo

And wizard tactics at early levels were probably needed more thought than: IF within 30ft THEN cast 'color spray' ELSE move within 30ft @freemo
