Seems like they've been given orders not to refer to them as rioters. Because when you're breaking windows and throwing smoke bombs, that's exactly what you are.

I think it depends on who specifically your talking about. Many are just protesters, not all are rioting. Others are actively rioting. One would hope depending on what part of the crowd they are referencing they would use the correct word.

Sounds inappropriate docile in language... though if its just a smoke grenade on the ground that is kinda harmless. Me and my friends bought packs of them and played all the time

Depends where they are throwing it, but yea it can be. I'd have to see the clip to really judge
