@freemo nope, but my 19 year old brain really really wanted to believe them, so I learned how to block out reason and logic and accept their words as fact.
I sure can write a good poem in Middle English though. Wanna know about how women achieved equality in Iceland in the 800s CE? I can give you a damn fine lecture on that topic. 
@freemo what exactly do you do where you get the chance to visit Egypt? How do I get a job like that??
