@thor you certainly arent wrong that spending on things that make you mentally healthy and happy are neccesary too.. Im not claiming you shouldnt be spending on anything... My only point is, cutting back on those small every day expenses absolutely is a mentality and practice needed to get out of poverty.

@freemo i budget and adapt to whatever income i have. i could be very strict, but it's not pleasant for me. i want to have a nice life now, not later. later does not feel real to me until it is now.

Thats perfectly fine.. there is nothing wrong making the conscious choice to sacrafice a better future for a short-term immediate pleasure... I think its just important we dont frame that as a choice that has no effect on our future financial success when it does.

@freemo i don't quite see it that way

i think that if you are wired in a way where such long term thinking is not what you're motivated for, this should not rob you of benefits, because this is just how you are, after all. you had no decision in it, so why should you have less than the rich person?
