@georgetakei I dunno, 20% more unemployed since biden took office (last i checked a month ago anyway) doesnt sound all that "strong" to me.
@freemo @georgetakei Where'd you check? Because this doesn't look like 20% more unemployed (https://www.bls.gov/charts/employment-situation/civilian-unemployment.htm):
The data you just posted shows clearly the 20% increase. It was at 3.2% at the start of his presidency. As of about a month ago it was at 3.8%. That is a 20% increase. It is reflected int he chart you just posted (as you can see the uptick at the end there).
@freemo @georgetakei I initially posted the unemployment rate, but I thought the absolute numbers of unemployed people would show a clearer picture, so I edited my post to reflect that. In absolute terms, there are less unemployed people than in January 2022.
Even looking at the unemployment rate, I consider calling it “a 20% increase” is misleading, since the unemployment rate is such a small percentage.
@badken So you found out you were wrong, and instead of using the proper normalized rate you decided to win the argument by using dishonest unnormalized numbers? Yea dont do that.
The non normalized numbers include things like people fleeing the USA due to economic refugee status or even just because they want to. These numbers have no place. Similarly new babies born would be included in such a figure and likewise a reason we dont use it.
