I think I am the only person I ever met who can intentionally choose to forget a memory. I do it all the time, when I want to forget something that is unpleasant I can just forget it... I cant remember a specific instance mind you, but I'm sure I've done it :)

@freemo@qoto.org Share the secret. :P I keep remembering the bad things tenfold.

@trinsec I just choose never to think about it again and then after a certain amount of time I cant remember what it was if I try.

Like I remember thinking back to many times in my life where I had the thought I was going to choose to forget something, but no joking I dont remember what that something was, I just remember doing that many times so I know I can.

I am weird, I know.

@freemo @trinsec I developed this ability through gradual exposure to "if only you knew how bad things really are", but have found the consequence that it has made it more difficult to generally remember anything. Beware.

@freemo

You sound like my mother. She always said "I can't remember that." even if it was an hour ago. Especially about things she promised.
