If #Biden actually made a move like this and rejected his own party I would change my stance and actually consider voting for the guy. Though with Bidens extremely racist track record even then it would be a hard sell. But that would go a long long way to make me consider him.
On the flip side even if Trump pulled this he still wouldnt get my vote. But thats another matter.
I agree with this, I mean there is no way Trump could get me to vote for him, no recovering it. There are things biden can do (like apologize for his racism and show sincerity in that effort) but he never would, so looks like no **real** hope for Biden either.
A non-biden democratic nominee who I could begrudgingly support would be the best I can hope for at this point. Even the third party candidates arent looking so great right now (but still better than Biden or Trump).
Sad world we're living in.
@Mary625 Its a world were people with good intentions are their own worst enemies. Most democrats, and even many republicans, are well intentioned. But they are so bogged down by idealism and dogma at the surface and fighting with people over being nuanced, that they turn into raging asshats most of the time on both sides. Which is just making things worse.
I probably would have agreed with that assessment years ago. But the calls for death to immigrants from the GOP and the calls for death to Palestinians from some democrats makes me believe that even good intentions are gone from most of humanity.
It's sad af
Good intentions can be twisted into very evil things at times. Intentions dont mean shit when your system of morality is so corrupted that you will make these sort of behaviors.. But i maintain that even these things, in their own twisted minds, are done because they believe they are serving some greater good (even if they clearly are not).
Probably true. Yeah, most likely for many
Indeed his reaction to the war there exemplifies his immorality and racism, but it is hardly limited to that.
I agree with what you just said but I can't see the post you're replying to, or the profile of the person you're replying to
If we were talkign about just some passing decision that has a slight racist tinge to it, sure. But we are talking about a man who centered his entire career around this racism, has said explicitly racist thigns, and has continued to be either explicitly racist or clearly a racist in stealth since then (he doesnt hide it well).
@Mary625 @freemo there is zero real way for Biden to be replaced by anyone other than Harris.
Basically none of the possible alternatives regularly mentioned have any campaign infrastructure, don't have campaign funds that could legally be transferred to a presidential campaign, and most importantly poll significantly worse against Trump than Biden does. Lawrence O'Donnell had a nice overview of this a couple weeks ago: https://youtu.be/_9vsivYrC4U
I expect the chance of biden being replaced by a democrat that isnt harris to be so close to 0 as to be essentially 0.
But a man can dream.
I agree but not because they can't. It's because they won't.
O'Donnell is right about one thing, we've had no choice for for years. (Okay he didn't actually say it like that but it's the bottom line 😁)
The DNC controls quite a bit of that money. There are PACs that can legally use their slush funds.
It's the beginning of March. Do you think if something happened to Biden the DNC would just say, "oh well! So we're just closing up and going home for the 2024 election"?
He'll lose to trump and it'll be his and the DNC's fault.
I want trump like I want a hole in my head. This isn't on voters, it's on Biden
Thanks for the link, btw 😊
@freemo
You couldn't pay me enough to vote for trump. There's not enough money in the world.
That orange pos, thanks to man, is way ahead in the polls. Biden needs to drop out now and let someone run who can beat trump. At this point, almost anyone else would be good.
Biden's ego is going to get us trump. Just like Hilary's did
