#MASTODON #IDEAS / #SUGGESTIONS... [IMAGE BLOAT]
Massive space take up by PNG images... [unintended]
Have you noticed the PNG image files on Mastodon when you go to save an image? (images are not JPG)
[Assumption #1]: The image is converted to PNG sometimes to strip EXIF...
Example post link: https://retrochat.online/@jimblimey/111747885508547123
PNG = 1,1mb +/-
JPG = 150Kb +/-
If I'm right then it's good to strip EXIF but regularly 1MB PNG files are created for originally ~50-100Kb JPG upload!
Overall it is killing space massively also.
█ A SOLUTION:
Convert the PNG back to JPG (done server side) to get about 1mb space back per image!

PNG = 1,1mb +/-
JPG = 150Kb +/-
